Happy Friday! We hope you’ve had a restful break and a seamless adjustment back to the rush of the spring semester. Attached to this email are the minutes from our General Membership Meeting from Wednesday, Feb 8th. We also wanted to point out two urgent matters.
First, our fellow graduate students from Turkey have created a letter to raise awareness of the situation in Turkey and Syria following the earthquakes earlier this week. Please share their letter widely with your network, and if you’re able, consider sending a donation to the organizations listed in their letter. Each of the charity funds was carefully chosen for trustworthiness and equity in aid distribution. GEO members voted to endorse the letter, and as a body, we will be demanding support from university administrators to boost this letter.
Second, the deadline to return your ballots for the UAW International Executive Board Election is February 17th. If you have not received a ballot, please call 855-433-8683 to request one today. We’ve attached an FAQ about the elections to this email.
Finally, the results of the election for our new Membership Organizer and Bargaining Committee were announced. Our new membership organizer and bargaining committee members are as follows:

Bargaining Organizing and Mobilization Coordinators: Jordon Crawford, Jessica Scott
At-Large Bargaining Committee Members: Shady Nashed, Kasia Karolak, Brenda Quintana, Andre Kenneth “Chase” Randall, Clara Higgins
See the final vote numbers and the rest of our discussion in the minutes here. All members in good standing are welcome to volunteer on the Bargaining Committee, and as we move toward entering negotiations in the coming months there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved!
