Fellow workers,

This email is a notice that there will be a ratification vote on the Tentative Agreement reached between GEO-UAW 2322 (“the Union”) and UMass Amherst (“the University”) to modify the previous collective bargaining agreement. The new contract will be effective retroactive to September 4, 2022, and will be implemented as soon as it is ratified and then signed by the president of the UMass system. It will last until August 31, 2023.

Voting for ratification will take place in-person on the following dates:

Wednesday, September 21, 1-5pm

Thursday, September 22, 10am-2pm

Polling location: TBA. Keep an eye on your email, the GEO membership slack workspace, and social media for the latest updates!

A vote count will take place immediately after the polls close. All are invited to attend the count. Results will be emailed out and posted at www.geouaw.org immediately upon the completion of the count. Stay tuned for more information about post-ratification celebrations.

The ratification vote is open to all current members in good standing of GEO. “Good standing” means you are current in your payment of dues. If you have questions about your status or standing, please reach out to us immediately! Proxy voting and absentee ballots are not permitted.

The current collective bargaining agreement can be viewed on the GEO website here. Attached to this email is a document summarizing the agreed modifications, which members will vote on. This will also be posted on the GEO website. Copies of these materials will be available at the polling place.

If you have any questions, reach out to bargaining!

In solidarity,

GEO Bargaining Committee and Elected Leadership
