Greetings GEO members,
We are writing to announce that we have reached a Tentative Agreement with the University on a new contract. We are preparing to send this contract to GEO members to vote on ratifying the contract, which will begin on Friday and run for one week (10/4-10/11). Once a contract is ratified, it is accepted and we proceed to implementing the changes we’ve agreed on. The vote will take place electronically via ElectionRunner and all members in good standing will be sent ballots directly. We will send more detailed information about the process later this week.
Attached to this email is a high-level summary of the major changes to the contract. The full Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) will be made available to GEO members during the ratification vote. Members may also request copies of the full MOA by reaching out to the Bargaining Committee or GEO leadership directly.
The bargaining committee will be hosting two town halls to talk through what is in this Tentative Agreement and answer members’ questions about the new contract. These meetings will be information sessions where the bargaining committee and leadership share materials such as copies of the new tentative agreement. There will not be voting on anything at this meeting and the intent of the town hall is to be informative and to share materials such as copies of the Tentative Agreement.
The first town hall will be this Thursday, October 3rd from 5-6:30pm. The second will be on Monday, October 7th, time TBA. We will send more information the day of each event with the location and the zoom link.
